evaluation pt6

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

I've been doing media based subjects now for 4 years and I have really enjoyed it. Each year I would lean something new about the technologies involved something I didn't know before.

My first year of GCSE media I was given a fairly simple camera which was easy to use, because my main focus was that I had to learn how to use adobe premiere, doing the a-level course I was allowed more freedom as to what I wanted to work with, I not only used a more complex camera with a added lens but two different variety of camera, because I wanted to achieve the highest and best quality shots possible.

This year I also used my own tripod.

Using a tripod noticeably reduced unwanted movement of the camera we were able to film shots that were steady and not wobbling all over the place. This improved the quality of our film by a substantial amount, making it look much less amateur and so nothing distracts the audience from the narrative, as a wobbly camera may remove the focus from the plot if not used in the correct scene.
Panning is vital in my opening and having a tripod makes panning much easier and more fluid.

A key part of equipment I needed whilst filming was reflectors, they allowed me to create light where I needed outside, meaning I could light a key prop "phone" or a character "Chantelle".

When shooting in brightly lit situations such as outdoors, like I did, it can be very handy to have a reflector on hand to assist you in ensuring that your shot is well lit and exposed.

To edit all of our footage I  used adobe premiere. I learnt the basics from the very start of the media studies course at GCSE how to shorten footage and remove parts we do not need as well as great effects and video transitions such as fading in, this year lighting the footage on the software was new to me so I had to figure out how to lighten a clip “wallet” by changing the hue and saturation , As the course proceeded I developed on all these skills. Using the Apple Macs was my biggest difference this year as at GCSE level I was using a computer with adobe installed on it; I learnt how to import footage from the camera into also importing music and sounds.

This technology helped us to build our knowledge about making my film and I learnt a substantial amount throughout the process about creating and editing film.
