On Location

we decided to go out to the woods and get a better idea of what it might look like when it came to film, we got "chantelle" dressed up into her costume and we done the same with "jade" I took my inspiration for the red coat for a film called schindler's list

re-post of MUD BOY

Mud Boy

Mud Boy is a short 10min film on the BBC film network, the story is about a traumatised young girl who makes a chilling discovery at the bottom of her garden

Meana the young girl is put in a difficult position when she realises her dad is beating her mum whilst dealing with her brother disappearance when digging in the garden Meana comes a cross a dead body but what we don't realise until the end is that she has been seeing his ghost

Meana sees her brother as a ghost but believes he's real. Its a really powerful story on domestic abuse.

her a few screen shots of the film...

titles - here you can see the titles of the film, they haven't be made to be clear or bold which is a problem when a view maybe watching it, it also doesn't catch you eye and make you remember it, so this will have to be something we have to think of when it comes to making our titles.

also this shot establishes where the film is see as you can see the fairly modern London houses also the shot focuses on a key prop that is used with in the film, without giving to much a way, I like the way the spade is standing alone which could be used as a metaphor and liked with the young girl as she clearly feels alone and almost lost with her brother who has gone missing.

in this shot you can see the hand of the dead body this shot allows the audience to focus on it and really makes you feel tense and shows just how serious the plot of the story is, I like the way that its surrounded by mud and DEAD  grass and weeds, the contrast int his shot seems very dull and lifeless which almost symoblis the body ( dead, alone , pail , lifeless )

this is what we would call an Arial shot or its also known a birds eye view shot it allows the audience view the action for difference perspectives all in one shot, in this shot I thinks it really clever at the fact the girl is colourful, bright which resembles life whereas the boy is dull and pail to represent that he is in fact dead.

its almost as if its spilt in two

in this shot the camera has been placed over the shoulder of the police officer this is what we call a high angle shot its usually used to so dominance In the character which is exactly what its doing here, it shows that the woman has authority due to being a law enforcer also could be to show that the woman is older and taller whereas the girl is opposite.

schindler's list

Schindler's List is a 1993 American epic historical drama film directed and co-produced by Steven Spielberg and scripted by Steven Zaillian. It is based on the novel Schindler's Ark by Thomas Keneally, an Australian novelist. The film is based on the life of Oskar Schindler, a German businessman who saved the lives of more than a thousand mostly Polish-Jewish refugees during the Holocaust by employing them in his factories.

In Poland during World War II, Oskar Schindler gradually becomes concerned for his Jewish workforce after witnessing their persecution by the Nazis
The red coat is used to easily distinguish the little girl who plays a key role in the film.

WHAT HAS INSPIRED ME

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I particularly like the fact the little girl is wearing red and shes the only thing I colour I am going to take this idea and have the little girl in my film wearing a very similar red coat.

WHAT I NEED TO DO NEXT

WHAT I STILL NEED TO DO

- I NEED TO GO BACK OUT ON LOCATION TAKE MORE STILLS TO CREATE A DIGITAL STORY BOARD EITHER ON HERE, IPICCY, OR AS PREZI

- I THEN NEED TO THINK ABOUT PROMOTION - THINK OF DIFFERENT AND UNUSUAL WAYS OF PROMOTING MY FILM E.G POSTERS, FLYERS, DVD COVER AND MAYBE EVEN A PLAN\DESIGN FOR A GAME LIKE "THE HOBBIT DESOLATION OF SMAUG"

- ONCE I HAVE DONE ALL THESE THINGS I WILL NEED TO BEGIN FILMING IN ORDER TO KEEP UP TO DATE WITH THE WORK

- I WILL THEN COME BACK AND BEGIN EDITING MY FILM

(DUE TO ME CHANGING NARRATIVE I WILL NEED TO ANALYSE A NEW FILM OR PROGRAMME THAT LINKS TO MY FILM (SUCH AS "HOLLYOAKS- INDIA'S MURDER" - AND - "EASTENDERS" - OWEN'S BODY IS FOUND )

ipiccy

On Saturday I went to one of several woods in my area and planned out where I wanted to film the first scenes of my film

here are a few still images of what I took whist out on location

Narrative

My 3min opening film that I have been working on for my a-levels is called “the willow”

The first 3 mins you see a young girl with dark brown hair, her 7 year old daughter and there dog walking through the woods it all seems fairly normal and then the young girl called jade lets the dog the lead it runs off to explore.

The camera then follows the two characters through the wood whilst they are having a convocation about the little girls day at school.

In the back ground the dog begins barking and the music then becomes a lot darker and gradually builds, you then see a close-up off the dog barking and digging at the ground and the two character run up towards the camera and come into focus they a both struck with horror and it then cuts to a shot of a hand of a dead body (at this point I will add the sound of a crow in the background to build up tension and let the audience no that someone has be brutally murdered)

-      Cut to black
-      Title ( THE WILLOW
-
The plot involves a young who starts chatting to a guy called “shane” on a internet dating site called “ilover” after a few weeks of talking to this guy, “LUCY” begins falling for him and they both decide to meet up for there first date.

Everything goes to plan on the night of the date however on her way lucy see’s a car broken down on the side of the road, she stops and asks the old man in his late 60’s if he needs any help, the old man declines her offer politely and say thanks anyway lucy and calls her by her name, however lucy then realises she didn’t tell him her name.
at this point the music become slightly darker and the end result is that lucy gets murdered by this old man who has been talking to her with a fake name called “shane”

We are then brought back to the beginning of the film where the body is found in the woods

Leaving My Group

After thinking long a hard about my A-levels I have finally come to the decision to leave my group due to differences, fall outs and I'm just not happy with the level of work that's being produced as a whole group

We was scheduled to do filming on the 4th and the 11th but due to problems we did not get any filming done and due to us needing to be at school when doing this we only have a Wednesday next week to film because of the Christmas holidays, so I thought in order for me to succeed in my media it would be best to leave the group and produced a new 3 min opening on my own

From Wednesday the 11th to Friday the 20th I will plan and come up with a new narrative, titles, posters and other stuff for my new film opening

I will begin filming in the Christmas holidays then come back in January to begin editing

suspense

suspense:

our opening of our film should contain a sense of enigma and suspense.

Suspense is a feeling of satisfying appeal and excitement mixed with fear, tension, and anxiety developed from an unpredictable, mysterious, and rousing source.

An audience experiences suspense when they expect something bad to happen and have (or believe they have) a bigger view on events in the drama's order of knowledge, yet they are helpless and uneffective to interfere. Films having a lot of suspense belong in the thriller slasher, horror or action adventure genre.

black swan FILM review

Fantastically deranged at all times, Darren Aronofsky's ballet psycho-drama is a glittering, crackling and outrageous

Black Swan is a 2010 American psychological thriller horror film directed by Darren Aronofsky and starring Natalie Portman, Vincent Cassel, and Mila Kunis. The plot revolves around a production of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake ballet sequence

The production requires a ballerina to play the innocent and fragile White Swan, for which the committed dancer Nina (Natalie Portman) is a perfect fit, as well as the dark and sensual Black Swan, which are qualities embodied by the new arrival Lily (Mila Kunis). Nina is overwhelmed by a feeling of immense pressure when she finds herself competing for the part, causing her to lose her tenuous grip on reality and descend into a living nightmare.

Mila Kunis poses in a white dress   Natalie Portman looks to the camera's left, smiling The poster for the film shows Natalie Portman with white facial makeup, black-winged eye liner around bloodshot red eyes, and a jagged crystal tiara.

On location filming

as you can see today we began film the first part of out film it we began filming at 18;00 and set off we had a team discussion as to what we would be filming today and we set up the camera and tripod made refreshments and began filming we set off well and we came across many disruptions we discussed the lighting in the first shot as it was to dark and we was unable to see we then turned on the port light and it gave us the right amount for it to be able to be seen on the camera we then ran out of battery on the camera and we charged the camera up and had a short break once we had filmed the first 20-30 secs of the film we called it a night and planned to meet at 4:30 tomorrow and we would finish at 8:00pm in the evening.

still images of location at night

here you can see a test of what the glass will hopefully look like and another of how the killer will be shown.

here is where I (character) will be sitting watching the movie we will probably have some closes up of me so its shows more emotions to how I'm feeling (scared, lonely, frightened)

I love this shot in particular as its very sinister the black against the window works perfectly and this is where we get a closer look at the killer

this is a pov shot of me walking to the kitchen to investigate the strange sounds

the reason why we have this shot so it remind the audience that its Halloween and that's what we want them to focus on
