after doing much research into WORKING TILE and UNIVERSAL I have now changed to UNIVERSAL instead of FOX SEARCHLIGHT pictures

  A T O N M E N T

The film was directed by Joe Wright, it is based on the novel by writer Ian McEwan. The writer involved with the film was Christoper Hampton. The production companies included Working Title Films, Universal Films, Studio Canal and Relativity Media. Filming locations include London, Cambridgeshire and Buckinghamshire. In the UK it was released on the 7th September 2007, in the USA it was released on the 4th January 2008. The film had an estimated budget of $30,000,000, in the UK, on the opening weekend, it made £1,634,065 from just 411 screens.

Much of the film is told through the character of Briony. She is only thirteen when the story begins. A lot importance is put on Briony's imagination and her confusion. Often, Briony is unable to separate between her real and her false worlds.

At the start of the film, there is a erge to portray Briony as an innocent child, unaware of what she is doing. She had seen that Robbie was more attracted to Cecilia than to her. She was jealous. This revelation changes the view of the character's intentions. Even as a child, she knew right from wrong.

Briony carry on to feel guilty four years after the big event that sends Robbie to jail. This has been brewing inside of her for some time. She then sees Robbie, wounded with other soldiers and finally begins to feel sorry and regret what she has done to him and how she has ruined her sister Cecilia's life.

In comparason to Briony, there is Cecilia. She is a bundel of emotions: a symbol of sexuality, love, passion, and giving. While Robbie is in jail and then later in the war, Cecilia is helping him to hold onto his sanity and bring him home. Just as she used to hold Briony in her arms when Briony suffered from nightmares as a child, Cecilia woos Robbie home with whispered emotion: "Come back. Come back."

Cecilia's character lingers in the shadowy background of the story. Whereas both Cecilia and Briony become nurses, it is Briony that readers see in action at the hospital.

I've now began editing my film its going well however now they are in place there are a few shots im not happy with so I'm going out Sunday to do some touch up shots they include...

- Panning around the wood
- The dog being let of the lead

as I said yesterday we decide to carry on filming tomorrow and today the weather was very much on our side we spent 3 hours and 20 mins filming today and we finished everything that was needed

I will upload a short trailer later to accompany the promo I did yesterday.

today we planned to finish the last few shots of the opening of the film we was going to spend around 2 hours getting some good shot close-up's p.o.v ETC... however our time was cut short due to bad weather so we have arranged to meet tomorrow at 11am and being filming the remaining shot however here a some clip of what we done today there are a few sound effects at the end ( crow sound and a faint sound clip )

okay so after my feedback on Monday I took into count what miss said about not revealing to much and changing the way the body is found due to it being far to repetitive.

now both the dog and chantelle run off, however as she's running she quickly gets lost and begins to panic

inspiration

here is one of 3 collages I have done for my film this one explaining more where i got my inspiration from

as you can see two of the worlds major soaps HOLLYOAKS & EASTENDERS have be my leading inspiration due to the hard hitting brave story lines and the uncertainty they use within that particular story also because each of them have had story's related to the one I have chosen in my film.

SCHINDLERS LIST was my inspiration for the girl in the red coat and my idea for the film as a whole was a short film on the bbc film network called MUD BOY.

Here is my DVD cover for my film I made this using Microsoft Word.

As you can see I have chosen to highlight particular words because them being the strongest with my narrative e.g thrilling, horror. I also want them to relate them words with my opening.

I have also kept the gradient effect on each image due to it making the audience on edge.

The camera angle on this certain image is very discordant also the colours black white and red are often associated with the horror and thriller genre.
