promotion (leaflet)

Here I have created a leaflet for my film this it to accompany my magazine cover and my poster as it is all promoting my film I tried to keep the leaflet as simplistic as possible as I want the information to be in the magazine and on the poster.
The typography are the same that I used on everything else eg.Poster, DVD cover ...

promotion (magazine)

due to me having some free time i thought about the promotion of my film and i did some research into magazines at first i was going to go with the sun or the mirror however i came across a magazine dedicated to film and movies "empire" so  looked at some of there cover and then recreated the magazine logo and then started to make my own version of the magazine advertising my film along with another 3 films id done research on.

I tried to keep the colours to a minimum due to the image just being black & white

here is an actual copy of the magazine in comparison with mine

improve - I may go back a make the logo slightly large, however I'm really pleased with the outcome.

re-filming

after watching back the footage I really want to go back out on location this weekend and re-film some of the scenes and add a few more shots to the sequence.

Feedback/Response on footage

mgs - 16/01/13

opening shot - good
use of light is good give a haunting feel

panning shot - opening I really the opening to this is really creates a sense of mystery and enigma, the trees themself look scary and with the blue back drop give them a moe haunting feel.

m'mid into a close up - I particualy like this shot with the sun going down as its add a sense of darkness and tell the audince that something maybe wrong and it lights my character perfectly.

long shot - This is my best shot I think the wood looks so empty and has a tense eerie feel about it

2nd draft poster

This is the 2nd poster it has a limited amount of colour. The colours being brown, grey, black and dark green. This is another horror poster convention. Using these dark and plain colours adds fear to the poster. As if colours were used, it would give it a happier feel. Whereas dark colours makes you feel sad. These colours give it an surrounded, Closter phobic feel.

here I have put together my footage I took and made it into a short video

FURTHER DEVELOPMENT INTO FONTS

as you can see I have done some further development into my font for my titles I started looking at different forms of lettering using  a site I have previously used called www.dafont.com, I mainly like these FONTS as they are a lot more detailed than the others, however I did like the simplicity of the others, They give off a very strong but refined feel which resembles the wind blowing through the wind however some bear a resemblance to the cold wind tearing through the forest such as the second one, these type of fonts would replicate the storyline and give off a sense enigma and mystery which is why I like them, they also give off a very dreamlike feeling by the odd shaping in the typography due to the (serif)

As you can see I have begun to experiment with fonts for my film I have choosen to go with the 4th font due to its simplicity and gives the effect of trees due to the serif on the font and its also a very common font to use in horror and thriller genre

POSTER

HERE IS THE FIRST DRAFT POSTER FOR "THE WILLOW"

the cabin in the wood poster analysis

THE CABIN IN THE WOODS
poster analysis

The genre for this poster is horror. You can tell this by looking at the colours, images and text that they have used. A lot of horror film posters have one main image on them that they want you to focus on. These images are usually 'scary' and are the main focus point of the film. This film is titled, The Cabin in The Woods and has an image of a cabin in the foreground and a faded image of a woods in the background. This doesn't give the storyline away. It's straight to the point. They want you to focus on the cabin and this poster makes that happen.

This poster has a limited amount of colour. The colours being brown, grey, black and white. This is another horror poster convention. Using these dark and plain colours adds fear to the poster. As if colours were used, it would give it a happier feel. Whereas dark colours makes you feel sad. These colours give it an empty feel.

Horror posters commonly have one image on with the title and a tag line. This keeps it simple and makes you focus on one thing. It makes you guess whats going to happen in the movie. The tagline says 'You think you know the story.'

This is an eye catching tagline because you're questioning the story. This draws you in to want to see the movie as you want to know what is meant by it. It's short, simple and straight to the point. From looking at this poster i feel that when it comes to designing my poster, we are going to use just one image that will be the focus point of our film. I feel that we should include a tagline as it brings more attention to what the film will be about and draws you in, and is a typical convention used on horror posters. The reason this poster is so effective is because it has stuck to the typical conventions of a horror film poster.I also particularly like the simplicity of this poster and will definitely take this into consideration when making my poster
